Fund Donation to IBET by RCSHK

May 9, 2016 by RCS Editor

Integrated Brilliant Education Trust was the proud beneficiary of the Royal Commonwealth Society’s Annual Ball in 2015. IBET is a registered charity in Hong Kong (IR 91/12718), with Section 88 Inland Revenue Ordinance tax-exempt status with the mission of providing high quality educational support services to underprivileged children in Hong Kong’s ethnic minority groups. Our Jordan Center addresses these needs by offering after-school programs and tutorials, that help ethnic minority children strengthen their Cantonese skills.

The generous donation of HK$ 75,000/- from the RCSHK Annual Ball gave the IBET a big boost at the right time. Being able to afford the right staffing was our top priority as these children have to learn all subjects like maths, science, mandarin etc in schools with Cantonese being the medium of instruction. The donation enabled us to hire staff who was sensitive to the cause and also assisted us in kick starting the tutorials which were specially customized for the ‘Non Chinese Speaking’ children.

We were very grateful to the RCSHK delegation who took the time out and came to visit the center and see for themselves the problems faced by this particular segment of children. For a prestigious organisation as Royal Commonwealth Society Hong Kong to engage with IBET was a key factor in adding to IBET’s credibility and on going fund raising endeavors.

Break up of the donation of HK$ 75,000/- :

Salary for 4 months $ 64,000/- for full time teacher @ HK$16,000/- per month.

Books, learning aids for $11,000/-
