RCS Forum: Brexit, a Commonwealth Opportunity | 3 Nov 2017

November 6, 2017 by RCS Editor

Our RCS Forum: Brexit, a Commonwealth Opportunity held at the Hong Kong Club on 3 November was a great success. Attended by around 80 people, the keynote address was given by the Rt. Hon. Lord Howell of Guildford (Chairman of the House of Lords International Relations Committee and President, RCS, London) followed by a Panel Discussion with representatives of the EU Office in HK and the various chambers of commerce, and concluding with a cocktail party.

20171103_163151Participants generally felt that after Brexit there would be new opportunities for business, trade and cultural exchange between UK, the Commonwealth and Hong Kong. It was also noted that the Commonwealth had a strong network of civil society and professional bodies that operated independently of governments.
